BIOGRAPHY

Fabien Hyon was ‘Révélation Classique de l’ADAMI’ as well as HSBC Laureate of Aix-en-Provence Festival. 

Graduating from the CRR de Clermont-Ferrand (Conservatoire), he began studying in the class of Malcolm Walker in 2011 at the CNSMDP (Paris Conservatoire) where he obtained his Master’s in 2016. He is currently taking advanced classes at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel under the tutelage of José Van Dam. 

He has sung under the direction of Fabio Bonizzoni, Leonardo García Alarcón, Kaspar Zehnder, Arie Van Beck, Wolfgang Doerner, David Reiland, Stéphane Denève and Marco Guidarini in productions by Emmanuelle Cordoliani, Alexandra Lacroix, Jeanne Debost, Heather Fairbairn, Jean Bellorini, Alain Garichot, Edouard Signolet, Marc Baylet-Delperier, etc. at festivals such as Petites Nuits de Sceaux, Sinfonia en Périgord, Musica, Voyage d’Hiver, Musique & Mémoire, etc. and on stage at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Grand Théâtre du Luxembourg, Théâtre Gérard Philippe, Philharmonie de Paris, Opéra de Lille, Opéra de Rennes, Opéra de Massy, Scène Nationale de Châlons-en-Champagne, Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, National Forum of Music in Wroclaw, Poland, etc.

He has sung Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Chevalier de la Force in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, Lensky in Tchaikovski’s Eugen Oneguin, the title role in Candide by Bernstein. He was also Louis 14th in Hahn’s La Carmélite, Noel in Roussel’s Le Testament de la Tante Caroline, Diarte in Cavalli’s Erismena, Evangelist in Bach/Keiser’s St Mark Passion, Uriel in Haydn’s The Creation and Obadjah in Mendelssohn’s Elias and tenor solo in Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde.

Drawn to contemporary repertoire, in 2013 he performed melodies by Noël Lee and Patrick Burgan with the pianist Yoan Héreau. Then he embodied Rilke in C-M. Sinnhuber’s Mitsouhistoire d’un chat, Mr Haack in Betsy Jolas’ Iliade l’amour, Telemachus in Jules Matton’s Odyssey Theseus in Michele Reverdy’s Ombre du Minotaure, Nestor in Guillaume Connesson’s Les Bains Macabres... Critics praised his « radiant energy and ease both on stage and vocally » (ResMusica) and his « fleshy, intense and radiant voice and [his] stunning stage presence. » (La Croix).

Next season Fabien will perform Billing in Thomas Nguyen’s Xynthia in Paris, Reims, Metz and an upcoming tour. He will also sing in Lully’s Theseus, Charpentier’s Médée and Regent’s Jérusalem Délivrée, in Paris, Brussels and Wien, alongside with Christophe Rousset’s Talens Lyriques, Hervé Niquet’s Concert Spirituel and Leonardo García Alarcón’s cappella Mediterranera. Fabien will give several songs and lieder recitals with pianist Juliette Sabbah, with whom he recorded his first french songs disc : Paris Vagabond
